Last Week at JPII - 08/31/26

After months of preparation, we are off to an amazing beginnings of the new school year. We’ve opened our new St. Joseph classroom building, and welcomed 6 new teachers, 12 new families, and 37 new students to the JPII family. From our beautiful first Mass on the first day of school to our Popsicle Day celebration, these first 8 days of school have been a great testament to the vibrant life of our growing community.

August 31, 2026 - It’s been busy at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.

Nature studies are central part of a classical approach to science, emphasizing direct observation of the natural world. This approach encourages wonder and engagement with God’s creation through active, outdoor interaction. This week, lower school students delighted in recording and sketching their observations in their nature journals- a favorite subject being all the empty cicada shells!

Volleyball season is in full swing! The 6th grade Lady Griffin team won their game last Friday, and we’re looking forward to seeing more high-energy games this weekend!

Never too old for a zoo trip! The high schoolers took their first field trip of the year to the Henry Doorley Zoo, completing a scavenger hunt and enjoying a relaxed morning of friendship and conversation.

The school week ended with our annual Popsicle Day, filled with singing, dancing, and (of course) popsicles, celebrating the end of the first full week of school! See more photos of the fun here.

Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
