Last Week at JPII - 09/07/26
Welcome to all the new members of JPII’s three Halls - Kolbe, Frassati, and Thérèse! Find more photos of Friday’s sorting and competitions here.
September 7, 2026 - It’s been busy at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.
Congrats to our 6th and 8th grade Lady Griffin Volleyball teams on their victories this weekend! Special shoutout to the teachers (and Fr. Flott!) who showed up in support of these players.
This week, Kindergarteners made lemonade while learning about solutions in science class, played a memory game during morning break, and enjoyed choosing a variety of Montessori Practical Life works available in the classroom, including tracing, droppers, and a wrench work.
Fr. Boyd visited classrooms on Wednesday, spending time with faculty and students after Mass. The 4th & 5th grade prepared diligently for their first Latin quiz of the year.
Inside the middle school: 6th grader Madeline performed her flute solo for her classmates (a real treat!), and Mr. Mellender’s 8th grade Latin class drilled their vocabulary using a version of the game “Headbandz.”
2nd & 3rd grade conducted a science experiment on states of matter and heat transfer this week, timing how long it took ice cubes to melt in different liquids - water, salt water, vinegar, and coke.
And nothing like a morning reading and study session at The Mill Coffee & Tea in Omaha with the JPII high school.
Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
