Last Week at JPII - 05/18/26

Last week, 3rd & 4th grade took an afternoon to visit the UNO Planetarium, experiencing a narrated tour of the universe and learning about seasonal constellations - encountering the Creator through his creation.

May 18, 2026 - It’s been busy at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.

Girls Leadership took one last field trip for the year to Memorial Park for a celebratory picnic! Students enjoyed playing on the playground, racing, and climbing trees in the spring weather.

Last week, 5th & 6th took an all-day hiking trip to Mahoney State Park, hiking trails and visiting with wildlife. On their return drive, they made a visit to Holy Family Shrine for some time with the Eucharist.

The 7th grade took a hike through the Hitchcock Nature Center with Mr. Mellender and Ms. Seidl while the 8th grade was still off-grid in Moab, UT. And the High School enjoyed a retreat day at Lake Waconda, enjoying a day of leisure activity and prayer, meditating especially on reflections from St. Edith Stein.

Kindergarteners counted all the way up to 1000 by tens using a chain of beads stretching all the way down the hall. And our Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Atria have been wrapping up the year with celebrations of Pentecost, meditating on the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Prank alert! The 8th grade decorated the whole school with streamers and balloons, and left juice boxes for the K-2nd graders. 🎈🧃

Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
