Last Week at JPII - 05/11/26
The 8th grade made it to Moab, UT, with Cor Expeditions, an outreach of Wyoming Catholic College.
May 11, 2026 - It’s been busy at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.
Over the past couple days, the JPII 8th graders have enjoyed desert hikes, rappelling down mountainsides, exploring caves and canyons, cooking their own meals on camp stoves, and camping under the stars. See more pictures here!
Inside (and outside) the 5th and 6th grade classroom this week: a shelter-building challenge from Mr. Fletcher! And students honed their skills in extemporaneous speech with a lively discussion about homeschooling, following the rules of parliamentary debate.
Congratulations to the K-2nd graders on their virtue celebration this week! Each student received a certificate for the virtue their teacher thought they best embodied. We are so proud of these students and the ways in which they’ve flourished this year.
Congratulations to our First Communicants and Confirmandi on receiving the sacraments this spring! It was so special to have these students lead the May crowning procession.
This week’s Griffin sports update: Lydia and Pia represented JPII in the 2026 State Trap Competition. Lydia went up against almost 1,500 of the best HS shooters in Nebraska, and placed in the top 8% of all high school female shooters in Nebraska. Pia went up against over 900 of the best JH shooters in Nebraska, and placed in the top 19% of all junior high school female shooters across the state. We are incredibly proud of these students.
Boys Leadership learned how to filter and collect water in a survival situation using plastic bags (in lieu of tarps). And the butterflies raised by the Lower School have finally hatched and were ready to release this week. Students enjoyed observing the butterflies and holding them as they prepared for take-off
Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
