Last Week at JPII - 04/7/25
No middle schoolers were harmed in the taking of this photo! Just enjoying some friendly competition during break time.
April 7, 2025 - It was a busy week at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.
JPII Faculty started off the week with a faculty retreat day at St. Charles Borromeo in Gretna. The retreat was led by Dcn. Omar Gutierrez from the Evangelium Institute, and our faculty enjoyed the opportunity to pray and reflect on the vocation of teaching.
7th and 8th grade went on their own retreat this week at Omaha’s St. Cecilia Cathedral. They spent time praying, journaling, and observing the beautiful architecture. Towards the end of the visit, they were joined by the high school, and had a rehearsal in the choir loft for the JPII Family Pilgrimage Mass. Watch a video of the Adoramus Te Christe from the Mass here.
Kindergartners enjoyed encountering Christ in our CGS Atrium this week. On the left, a student works at a miniature altar; in the center, Mrs. Vogel talks with two students about the Good Shepherd; and on the right, a student enjoys some hands-on about the Seasons of the Liturgical Year.
Art classes this week! High School practicing manuscript illumination, 1st and 2nd grade learning to work with charcoal, and 5th and 6th working with various mediums to create crests and coats of arms.
Our Halls went head to head in friendly competition for the semi-finals of intramural basketball March Madness. Students are looking forward to the final game of the tournament on Monday!
Frassati Hall celebrated its Hall day on Friday, April 4th, which is Bl. Pier Giorgio Frassati’s birthday! Students enjoyed a delicious ravioli lunch from parent volunteers, and were absolutely delighted with the presence of Frassati cookies, and a Frassati Photo Booth. Thank you to all the parents who worked so hard to make the Frassati Hall Lunch possible!
Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
