St. John Paul II Academy to Expand Holy Ghost Footprint into St. Joseph Building

July 27, 2026 - St. John Paul II Academy is thrilled to continue its partnership with Holy Ghost Catholic Church and expand its footprint for the 2026-27 school year. Not only will JPII remain in the usual Holy Ghost School Building, but the school will also be housed in what once was the Convent, now known as the “St. Joseph Building.”

Over the past few weeks, volunteers from JPII have been working tirelessly alongside the Holy Ghost team - headed by Deacon Al Aulner and Jeff Belling - to prepare the space for use.

Middle school students from JPII have had the opportunity to assist in the renovations - tearing up old carpet, replacing flooring, building new classroom walls, adding doorways and windows, painting rooms, and more! - gaining valuable hands-on experience during their summer break.

The St. Joseph Building will house the 6th-12th grade classrooms, larger faculty work spaces, and a dedicated Atrium for Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Levels I & II.

The grassy area features space for the Lower School’s raised garden, many spots for outdoor study and conversation, and a lovely climbing tree. 😉

Expanding into the St. Joseph Building is a critical next step for JPII as the school continues to grow. This move will better equip JPII to accommodate the increasing demand for education in the Catholic and Classical traditions in the Omaha area.

Even though St. John Paul II Academy has some classes with waiting lists, this expansion allows for the addition of several class sections for the 2026-27 school year, with room for creating additional class sections over the next few years.
