Last Thursday, JPII faculty, students, families, and guests gathered for our annual celebration of the Feast of St. John Paul II!
October 26, 2026 - It’s been busy at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.
Our feast day celebrations started with Mass and a sung Eucharistic procession that made its way around the campus. Following Benediction, everyone enjoyed a delicious Polish sausage lunch, student songs, hall games, and an epic faculty vs. 8th grade soccer game. Thanks to Miss Hare, Mr. Ramsgard, Miss Simons and others, the faculty emerged victorious!
The day was a beautiful testament to the vibrant life of our school community. St. John Paul II, pray for us!
Aaaaand that’s a wrap on Volleyball Season! 6th grade Griffins took home a trophy celebrating an undefeated season, and 8th grade took home the 2nd place trophy in their bracket! We’re so proud of these athletes and everything they've accomplished.
Lower school enjoyed a couple different farm visits this week! On Monday, Kindergarten, 4th, and 5th grade enjoyed a combined outing to Bloom Farm and Pumpkin Patch in Avoca, NE! Students climbed farming equipment, visited animals, enjoyed a hayrack ride, explored the woods - delighting in the beauty of creation around them!
On Wednesday, Girls & Boys Outdoor Leadership enjoyed a combined field trip to Ditmars Orchard in Council Bluffs, IA. Students enjoyed fresh apple cider, feeding the goats, and a hayrack ride to the apple orchard, where they got to pick (and eat) their own apples.
1st grade has been immersing themselves in Native American history with art studies on the Native American images displayed in the school hallways. the 6th and 7th graders have been reading and annotating Ride the River, a novel set during the American frontier era.
And Autumn has begun arriving on campus, showing herself in little ways - like the slow changing of the leaves or the crisp mornings that allow for quiet outdoor prayer and meditation with the Lord.
Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
