Last Week at JPII - 09/21/26

Girls and Boys Leadership (1st-3rd grade) stops for a photo with the SR-71 Blackbird at the SAC Aerospace Museum in Ashland, NE.

September 21, 2026 - It’s been busy at St. John Paul II Academy! Here’s a look back at some of the highlights from last week, capturing the heart of life at JPII.

At the SAC museum, students got to explore interactive STEM exhibits, sketch their favorite museum pieces, and climb inside some legendary aircraft. It was a great way for students to experience American grit and greatness, especially in light of the 250th anniversary of the United States.

This past Wednesday, JPII Academy had the official dedication of the new St. Joseph building! After Morning Mass, Fr. Boyd blessed the old Holy Ghost convent/daycare, dedicating the building to St. Joseph. He also blessed the new marble St. Joseph statue that will sit at the entrance of the building, greeting students and guests as they enter. Lastly, Father processed through the school buildings, blessing our classrooms with holy water and sprinkling exorcised salt. For a brief virtual tour of the building, click here.

In Kindergarten this week -  Art appreciation, reading comprehension activities, and Montessori tracing works.

10th grader Meri discovered a way of proving Geometry Proposition 7 that was different from the method discovered by Euclid; on Monday, the class will compare her proof with Euclid’s proof. On Wednesday, the high school enjoyed an admissions presentation from Hillsdale College, one of our seniors’ top college choices. In Immersive Latin, students played a vocabulary game where had to race to grab certain items from around the classroom - including a whole seminar table!

Remember last week’s classroom corn stalks? 1st grade had a cornhusking competition, dividing into teams and racing to take the corn off the stalk and remove the ears. After the 1st graders went to town, Ms. Potter took the corn stalks over the 4th and 5th grade where she enriched their nature studies with a presentation on corn farming.

Hope you enjoyed this week in the life of JPII. Stay tuned for more glimpses in and out of the classroom as we continue to form saints, fully alive!
