Teach at JPII

The St. John Paul II Academy educator

is a joyful and dynamic person who believes that educating the whole child — intellectually, morally, and physically — can transform our culture.

St. John Paul II Academy teachers demonstrate a dedication not only to the craft of teaching, but to disciplined study and leisure activities that yield a host of virtues for success in the world. Simply put: our teachers are fully alive and love to learn, and they model these qualities to their students.

Why join our faculty?

Continued Formation

We believe that strong educators love learning, and it is very important to us that teachers are able to continue their own formation. To that end, the board of St. John Paul II Academy has approved a set amount of money to be distributed annually toward the continued education (conferences, classes, degrees, accreditation, or other programs) of any teacher interested in that formation.

Missionary Educator Program

The Missionary Educator program is a unique postgraduate service opportunity that equips participants to respond to the call of the New Evangelization through teaching. Upon completion of her undergraduate degree, the applicant is invited to apply for faculty positions through our missionary educator program in which she would be able to teach at the academy in a part-time or full-time role, receiving ongoing formation and training in the Catholic Liberal Arts Tradition, praying, learning, teaching, working, and living in joyful community with other young, Catholic women of similar disposition. Room and board are included in the teacher's compensation package from the school.

Community Life

Leaning into John Senior's "Faculty of Friends", our teachers support each other and participate in numerous, casual events, growing together in community, friendship, joy, and appreciation of the true, the good, and the beautiful. In the past, we have had bonfires, music nights, faculty parties, retreat days, game nights, bowling, and faculty dinners. While these are not all obligatory, most teachers participate and enjoy the events as they come.

JPII Experience Nights

Twice per school year, St. John Paul II Academy hosts a JPII Experience Night, in which faculty, parents, and other adult members of the community are welcome to come in to take a one-off class with one of the other faculty members on some subject of interest. While there are always multiple options, there have been classes on creating charcoal artwork, composing Shakespearean sonnets, speaking conversation Latin, and engaging in public speaking. There have been seminars on great works of literature, detailed art studies, introductions to Euclidean geometry.

Immersive Liturgical Living

The Catholic Faith is at the heart of everything we do at St. John Paul II Academy. Just by existing as part of our community, you will experience mass almost every day, daily lectio divina, frequent adoration and confession, extensive feast day celebrations, Eucharistic processions and benediction, and other intentional prayer woven throughout the school day.

Lasting Impact

Teaching is not always easy, but it is incredibly rewarding. What our teachers do today directly impact how students live out the rest of their lives. As cliche as it sounds, the work, care, attention, and devotion our teachers pour into these students directly forms the next generation of youth. In a Catholic school, this is especially true. The mission of St. John Paul II Academy is to "form saints fully alive". We firmly believe that that mission is more than just nice words. Our teachers are literally called to form the next Mother Theresa, the next Maximilian Kolbe, the next Joan of Arc, the next John Paul II, the next saints. It is not an exaggeration to say that the JPII teacher literally changes the world with his or her work.
